It was a beautiful morning to be out on the range as several hundred men and women registered to take part in a fundraiser to benefit Oldham County EMS.

“We actually have more first responders than you might imagine. We have six fire departments in Oldham County. We have four law enforcement agencies, we have a dispatch unit and we have EMS," David Voegele told Spectrum News 1.

Voegele is the Oldham County Judge Executive. *He said the main sponsor for the event is the Rogers Group, Inc.

“I can’t thank the Rogers Group enough, they went above and beyond supporting us," Ballardsville Fire Chief Stephen Fante said.

4-person teams spread out across the several hundred acres of The Sporting Club at the Farm in rural New Albany. Co owner Bobby Brooks says he was more than happy to host the event for Oldham County.

“Well it means a lot. Our first responders do so much for us. They are the unsung heroes," Brooks said.

Ballardsville Fire Chief Fante said emergency service staff across the board were stretched thin during the pandemic.

“The run volume was high." Chief Fante said money raised will help pay eqipment including breathing apparatus for the fire staff. “Being volunteers we appreciate anything we can get.”

Chief Fante and Judge Executive Voegele agree it takes both public funding and private donations to adequately serve the residents of Oldham County.

“We’ve got a great group of first responders and we have a wonderful company in the Rogers Group to take the lead in our community," Voegele added.
