LOUISVILLE, Ky — F45 Westport held its first slate of classes after the CDC handed down new recommendations regarding fully vaccinated people having the option to work out inside or outside with their mask off.

Joe Miday, the owner of F45 Westport, said Friday marked a new chapter for his members.
“For our members, it’s been absolutely tremendous, we’ve been masked up until yesterday, so it’s more of a relief. Had members get emotional thinking about taking that mask off when they work out and that’s a big thing for them,” Miday said.
F45 Westport has closely followed all of the guidance that’s been issued from the CDC and the Governor’s office. Miday was also quick to say that he wants to make it clear to his members that he’ll support whatever they feel comfortable with.
“We still have masks if you want to wear a mask. We offered them this whole entire time and they’re still up. There are still people grabbing masks and that’s a great choice and that’s what it’s all about and that’s what we want to support,” Miday said.
Miday said Kentucky was able to achieve this milestone because of the hard work and sacrifices they made. But, he urges people to continue to make good choices and continue with good habits.
“We can’t ever as gym owners or as people of how we got into this situation. So now we have great protocols of cleaning, sanitizing more, social distancing, we need to learn from everything that we just experienced over the past year,” he said. “Take our time to get back to normalcy I don’t know if we ever do. Our sanitizing, our cleaning. that’s here to stay,” he added.
Miday thinks attention to covid policies actually helped attract members to sign up.
“100 plus membership growth the past year has been phenomenal but I think what really happened was: the cleaning policies we put in, people saw it. They felt comfortable that we sanitized after every group. We wore masks up until for even those fully vaccinated and abided by those rules and it paid dividends for us,” he said.
Gov. Andy Beshear said the target date for capacity restrictions to be lifted is June 11th.
