LOUISVILLE, Ky. — During the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of Americans have had to put their travel plans on hold. But recently, Erin Trager-Kusman, a travel advisor, said she's seen a lot more interest from clients for trips.
“A hike in requests, I think due to the vaccine rollout and the hope surrounding that and some pent up desire for travel,” said Trager-Kusman.
The first 3 quarters of 2020 were rough on travel, but Trager-Kusman said that recently things have begun to be on an upswing. Some are seeking trips that are very last minute. The majority though that she’s seen have been people cautiously looking into travel plans.
“Then there are those who are tip-toeing back in asking what they’re interested in and when it is safe and what we should plan for,” she said.
She said travel advisors are able to help direct clients to the CDC’s guidelines as well as restrictions at potential destinations.
“'Here is what the CDC is saying. Here is what is required.' We’ll send them the link and do our best to keep them posted. Ultimately, clients are responsible to get tested.”
According to Trager-Kusman, there are options for people who want to travel now and that there’s options for people who want to take it slower and plan ahead. She wants the focus to be on safety.
“Although I’m not pushing people to travel right now. I think you can travel safely and responsibly,” she said.
