SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. — For 11-year-old Olivia and her twin 9-year-old brothers Max and Eli, the opportunity to bake in the kitchen with mom and make some money was a win-win for everyone.

MOE's Bake Shop, or Max, Olivia, and Eli Coyne. These three young entrepreneurs enjoy baking with their mom Amy, and want to share their goodies with the community.

"There was a craft fair at Royal Spring and so we decided to do refreshments. So, then we baked a bunch of stuff and we sold them and then we decided to keep doing it," Olivia said.

Max said business is going very well, as cookie orders are starting to go "out of the roof."

"I wanted to encourage their entrepreneurial spirit and wanting to take something that they already love doing and turn it into a way that they could connect with the community to give back," Amy said.

The trio, under mom’s supervision, started MOE’s Bake Shop, offering baked goods twice a month from their home in northern Scott County. These cookies are for all occasions, each baked crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

"We have lots of different types of cookies and we like making a different one for each month," Eli said.

MOE's cookie offerings include one specialty brand crafted to support those with diabetes.

Max was diagnosed with type one diabetes in March of 2020. After starting the bake shop in November, the trio decided to donate all profits from their diabetes cookie to research.

"We wanted to have a cookie that we could sell that 100% of the proceeds we can donate to research to eradicate diabetes," Amy said. "So that's the reasoning behind the cookie and to also create awareness."

MOE’s has whipped up a business plan, and they have weighed up a supporting mission, but what kind of cookie selections are coming out of the oven?

"These are the original chocolate chip. These are oatmeal, peanut butter. These are M&M's, these are the diabetes ones. These are birthday cake. These are kitchen sink and this one is peanut butter. This one is Brown butter salted caramel," Eli said.
