- No insurance, appointment necessary
Purvis has helped organized two free COVID-19 testing sites in the area.
“It’s painless and insurance is not required," Purvis told Spectrum News 1. Instead of the nose swabs, this testing uses saliva samples.
“Numbers are pretty high here. Higher than other parts of the city. This is why it is important to be tested and know your status," the councilwoman added.
On Monday, Purvis greeted test-takers at Shawnee Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Testing will continue on Tuesday, when residents can drive up to Lannan Park between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m No insurance or appointment is necessary for this location either.
Test administrators will need contact information at the time of the test, and results are expected within 48 hours.
“You want to be safe before you going around your seniors, grandmas, grandpas, your aunts and uncles," Purvis said.
Purvis says the testing is being paid for by CARES Act funding.
