FRANKFORT, Ky. — Before Santa makes the rounds next month, he's making a special trip to Kentucky.
Children and families can see him at Buffalo Trace Distillery's annual drive-through light display, which kicks off Dec. 3 and goes through Jan. 1. The distillery's 150,000 colorful lights will be lit from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. each night.
Santa will be stationed along the route, standing behind Plexiglass, on Dec. 3, 10, 11, 12, and 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Even though in-person events like the Lighting of the Trace and Santa Nights will not take place this year, 2020 marks the 22nd year Buffalo Trace has lit up the distillery for the public to view.
While children won't be able to speak directly to Santa, they can hand letters to one of Santa's elves who will place them in a special North Pole mailbox for him to read later. The elves will also hand out individually pre-wrapped treats.
There is no charge to drive through the lights at Buffalo Trace, and distillery helpers will be following health and safety guidelines. Drive-through guests are not required to wear masks inside their cars.
