LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Early in-person voting started Tuesday and Kentuckians are coming out in droves. The Kentucky Expo Center is once again a polling location in Louisville and on Thursday thousands more hustled in and out of the massive building including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
"I think everybody is adapting to it. I think we all know nationally Democrats like mail voting and Republicans like voting in-person and I think we see that reflected here in Kentucky as well..." McConnell told reporters Thursday.
By all accounts, the voting process is going smoothly.
Regardless of affiliation voters told Spectrum News 1 the Expo center is a convenient location to cast a ballot.
“People are there to direct you if you don’t know what to do. Like, this is my first time voting here in Louisville so I was kind of nervous about being at this big place but it was very organized, I can say," Darlean Poe said. “Very convenient. I thought it was going to be really crowded. It wasn’t though so I’m happy for that. I’m glad I came early like this," another early voter said.
As expected plenty of voters prefer to add their ballot to the counters by hand.
“Yes. I want to know if my vote counts," one voter told us. “It's a good sign that everybody is exercising their right to vote and in order for us to keep our democracy intact I think this is a good opportunity for everyone who is a registered voter to make sure they exercise their right," Ronel Brown said.
