LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Audra Eckerle issued an order Tuesday, for Louisville Interim Police Chief Robert Schroeder to testify before Metro Council's Government Oversight and Audit Committee meeting next Monday.

If he does not testify, Eckerle's order indicates Schroeder will be held in contempt of court. 

Council members have been trying to question Schroeder, as part of their investigation into the events surrounding Breonna Taylor's death. In a meeting last week, Louisville Public Safety Chief Amy Hess was in the questioned for more than five hours, answering questions about the handling of protests. At that time, Schroeder refused to speak. 

"I don't know how much more clearer I can be. He's not gonna talk," Schroeder's attorney, Joey Klausing, told committee chair Brent Ackerson (D- District 26).

"Then I'll just go ahead and invite you to leave," Ackerson retorted. 

"Respectfully, we're gonna stay here unless there's a problem with it," said Klausing. To that, Ackerson responded: "No. Just to be clear, there's no questions to be asked of the chief today."

Council members then voted to compel Schroeder to testify. The meeting he's now set to speak in happens Monday, September 28, at 2:30 p.m. at Historic City Hall.
