LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Metro Council passed an ordinance Thursday night, making Louisville the second Kentucky city to ban conversion therapy.

The ordinance, filed by Councilman Bill Hollander (D, District 9), passed 24-1.
A ban on conversion therapy could be statewide within the next year with two bills already filed in the state legislature.
Republican Sen. Alice Forgy Kerr (R, Lexington) and Democract Rep. Lisa Willner (D, Louisville) both pre-filed bills in their respective chambers.
The only other city in Kentucky to ban conversion therapy is Covington. With the passage of the ban, Louisville joins 70 other cities which ban the practice.
