LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The League of Women Voters of Kentucky (LWVKY)  is forming a local league in Northern Kentucky, joining over 700 local leagues throughout the country. The new league will be the sixth in Kentucky, along with ones in Bell County, Hopkinsville, Lexington, Louisville, and Murray.

The Northern Kentucky league is finalizing its organization under the leadership of Becky Smith Jones of Fort Wright and Jane Page-Steiner of Covington.

Smith Jones, a Kenton County native, owns Smith Jones consulting, LLC and serves on the Board of the Victorian at Riverside, a personal-care residence for senior women in Covington. Paige-Steiner is president of JPS Nonprofit Strategies, owner and publisher of The Greater Cincinnati Nonprofit News, and member of the Covington Business Council.

The newly-formed league is looking for members who support the League of Women Voters' mission. An immediate priority is providing voters with information about candidates ahead of November's election. 

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization born out of the suffrage movement and ratification of the 19th Amendment. The organization's mission is to inform citizens and promote their participation in democracy through registering and educating voters, tackling voter suppression, and more.
