LEXINGTON, Ky. — As cases rise in Lexington, the city is expanding its coronavirus testing opportunities and will soon have four free public testing sites.

What You Need To Know

  • Lexington expands coronavirus testing opportunities

  • Testing will soon be available at four different sites

  • Sites have varying hours of operation

The testing sites will be located at Southland Christian Church, 2349 Richmond Road; Consolidated Baptist Church, 1625 Russell Cave Road; Walgreen’s testing location at 2296 Executive Drive; and the City’s Mobile Neighborhood Testing program.

“The number of tests administered in Lexington is increasing,” Mayor Linda Gorton said. “Our goal is to provide as much free, public access to testing as possible. Many thanks to the community partners that have supported and hosted this effort.”

At Consolidated Baptist Church, testing will be offered four days a week. This week, testing will be conducted between different hours depending on the day:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 5: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 6: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 7: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 8: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In future weeks, testing will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and no appointment is necessary. Drive-up and walk-up testing are available.

After recently being in Cardinal Valley, downtown's east end and north Lexington, the City's Mobile Neighborhood Testing Program will continue at another location, to be announced soon. Locations are chosen based on areas experiencing a disproportionate increase in cases. No appointment is necessary, and drive-up and walk-up testing are available.

Southland Christian Church Richmond Road campus is offering drive-thru testing Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointments are necessary.

Drive-thru testing is also available every day at the Walgreen's testing location and will continue until the site runs out of tests. Online registration is required.

Bluewater Diagnostic Laboratory also offers tests at no cost to the patient, and while health insurance information may be requested, it's not required. Tests are available to anyone.
