LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Add Waterfront Wednesday to the list of long-running events now canceled due to the coronavirus.

What You Need To Know

  • Waterfront Wednesday's 2020 series canceled

  • Series will resume in 2021

91.9 WFPK and Waterfront park made the announcement June 24 but plan to resume the series in spring 2021. The decision takes into account current travel restrictions, challenges for national touring musical acts and logistical and economic challenges caused by the pandemic.

“WFPK Waterfront Wednesday is a thriving institution that has brought the community together for two decades,” WFPK Program Director Stacy Owen said. “We take pride in presenting this concert series at a high level of quality, which would not be possible at this time. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Big 4 Lawn for WFPK Waterfront Wednesday when the time is right.”

Waterfront Wednesday has been a staple of Louisville's cultural scene since WFPK and Waterfront Park first partnered in 2002. The yearly concert series showcases local and emerging national recording artists heard on 91.9 WFPK. Each concert is free, and the series has been named one of the Southeast Tourism Society's Top 20 Events. Previous acts include Old Crow Medicine Show, My Morning Jacket, Over the Rhine, Todd Snider, Iron and Wine, The Mavericks, The Avett Brothers and others.
