  • Flags went back up today

He ordered the mandate without the City Commission approval, but deemed it necessary in response to a possible threat.

Flags were removed from Circus Square Park and the police department, but continued to flight high at the fire department and City Hall.

“With regard to specific information that we had received regarding some outside groups that are coming to perhaps take some violent actions, I felt it prudent to secure and safeguard our facilities and the flags themselves placing them inside for the duration of what we expected the duration of the event to be,” said Wilkerson.

Flags were placed back on their post Saturday morning, and the city will continue to monitor any threats.
