LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The driver of a car on Liberty Street yesterday captured on video hitting a protester and then having a gun waved at them, has come forward to Louisville Metro Police.
The unidentified woman told police she was driving Wednesday morning when protesters blocked the intersection of Liberty Street and Sixth Street. She told police they surrounded her care and an argument began. She said soon protesters were reaching inside her car window assaulting her and pulling her hair. The victim told police she saw one of the protesters with a gun and fearing for her life she started to drive away. As she drove away, another protester running towards her car was hit. She started to drive away again down Liberty and stopped at a light at 5th Street that is when a protester pulled out a gun and pointed it at her so she again took off driving.
Police identified the suspects as 21-year-old Darius Anderson and 19-year-old Brionna Richards. A Louisville Metro Police detective saw Anderson give the gun to Richards who put it inside another car.
After being identified by video, the pair were arrested Wednesday and the gun found. The pair admitted to police they were involved in the incident. Anderson is charged with rioting, wanton endangerment, tampering with evidence, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and obstructing a highway. Richards is charged with rioting, tampering with evidence, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of a highway.
Police spoke to the victim and she isn't currently facing charges. The Jefferson County Attorney's office is reviewing the case to see if charges will be filed.
