LEXINGTON, Ky. —The University of Kentucky hosted an event Friday morning to show its support in the fight against racial injustice.
Students, staff and faculty from UK health colleges including nursing, dentistry, public health and more came together to participate in conversations about racial justice and equality.
“We must have tough conversations. We must move beyond our performative ally ship. We must hold ourselves accountable. It will take all of us to confront our past and present, and to work towards a better tomorrow," said Eli Capilouto, president of the university.
The event took place in the Jacob Science Building Courtyard on campus, where many came to support and listen to speakers followed by an 8 minute and 46 second moment of reflection.
