LEXINGTON, Ky. — As of June 1, gyms are now allowed to reopen in Kentucky as long as they follow certain guidelines to keep their customers and employees safe while working out. The owner of Snap Fitness in Lexington, Jim Benson, is ready to reopen after a few months of closing due to the coronavirus.

“More than thrilled to be back open today so far seeing familiar faces and seeing people out again and working out trying to stay healthy really, you know, getting back to what we know and love,” Benson said.

Snap Fitness is allowing 15 people in the gym at a time to make sure people are social distancing and staying more than 6 feet apart while working out. Benson is also supplying cleaning products for others to use once they are done using the equipment.

“If you touch it, if you use it, you clean it. We have really great expectations upon our customers and guests so it's for their own protection, they feel safe and they understand that I care," Benson said.

The gym is open 24/7, and workers will be monitoring the number of people allowed into the facility at one time through a computer to make sure they are complying with the CDC’s recommendations.
