KENTUCKY — Following the Miss America Organization's decision to delay all competitions until 2021, the Miss Kentucky Scholarshiop Organization recently announced that the 2020 Miss Kentucky and Miss Kentucky's Outstanding Teen Competition have also been postponed until summer 2021 due to ongoing coronoavirus concerns.
This means the current titleholder Alex Francke, will have another year of serving the state as the first-ever 2x Miss Kentucky.
"There's so much uncertainty surrounding this year and we just weren't sure that it would be everything that every girl hopes for their Miss Kentucky experience to be. It's a chance to make life-long friends, earn scholarship money and serve the community," says Francke.
Francke says she plans to stay active as Miss Kentucky and embrace the power of digital and social media, despite the cancellation of multiple booked appearances & school visits because of the ongoing pandemic.
"Being a virtual Miss Kentucky is certainly interesting. I've become a YouTuber, a movie producer a video editor all in one. I'm usually getting to go and visit schools, almost every day sharing my message, not only of personal growth and excellence, but the message of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. So what I've done is I've digitized all of those and put it on a YouTube channel. So if you go to the Miss Kentucky Facebook, Instagram or YouTube account, you'll be able to find all of my educational resources and connect with me," explains Francke.
