The rapid and dramatic change in our weather pattern continues today as temperatures will be the coldest of the week, wind chills will feel even colder, and some snow flurries will account for our first snowfall of the season.

Cold air that has been working its way toward Kentucky is now here, and will drop temperatures into the upper 30s and low 40s across the Commonwealth. With wind speeds kicking up to 20 miles per hour throughout the day, the air will feel like temperatures are in the mid to upper 20s, into the low 30s, throughout the afternoon and evening hours. Precipitation will make its way into Kentucky in two waves, with the first being some pockets of rain and snow mix in the morning, followed by more rain and snow mix into the later portions of the afternoon and early evening. Expect to receive a dusting of snow in grassy areas through the morning, with total accumulations in the eastern portions of Kentucky reaching up to an inch by the end of the day.

Overnight lows will not drop much, as temperatures will only fall to the low to mid 30s.

Temperatures will begin warming up into Friday, with highs ranging from the mid 40s to low 50s. Some pop-up showers may be expected, especially in parts of eastern and central Kentucky. That will be the last of the precipitation for the weekend, all the way out until Monday.
