LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A trio of music festivals slated to entertain thousands in downtown Louisville in September will not be taking thanks to coronavirus.
Hometown Rising, Louder Than Life, and Bourbon and Beyond were set to take place in September. Danny Wimmer Presents announced Friday all three were canceled because of the virus and the need to keep people safe.
In a statement posted on each of the festivals' sites, DWP says it hopes to rebook as many of the 2020 performers for concerts in 2021.
Everyone who already bought tickets will be getting full refunds. DWP says ticketholders will be contacted next week about the refund procedure.
Hometown Rising was expecting such celebrities as Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, and Dierks Bentley. Metallica was slated to headline Louder Than Life, but the band pulled out so lead singer James Hetfield could focus on his health. A replacement headliner was never announced. Acts for Bourbon and Beyond were also never released.
The Forecastle Festival announced its cancelation April 16. It hopes to return next year.
