LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Passionate about food? Love horseracing? Want to go to the Kentucky Derby 146? That's a lot of questions but Churchill Downs is searching for a fabulous foodie to be the honorary "Official Menu Taste Tester."

Beginning now through February 12, the first culinary experts to share their favorite original  Derby party recipe will have a chance to join Churchill's Executive Chef David Danielson in the racetrack's kitchen to finalize this year's official menu. To enter you just need to go to the Kentucky Derby website.

The winner and a guest will be brought Louisville in March 2020 to learn what goes into creating Danielson's Southern specialties. The winners will, of course, get to sample the tastes of Kentucky and will help select the final dishes that will be served for this year's 146th running of the Kentucky Derby. The winner also receives a pair of vouchers to check out Louisville's best restaurants as well as tickets to the Derby.

“The Kentucky Derby is more than just the greatest two minutes in sports – it’s a celebration of authentic Kentucky flavors, ingredients and traditions, both at Churchill Downs and across the country as viewers celebrate at home,” said Chef Danielson. “I’m excited to bring in the culinary expertise of a passionate foodie to add a special twist to this year’s menu and our culinary traditions.”

You have to be 21 years old and a resident of the 48 contiguous United States. Danielson will select the "Official Menu Taste Tester" and the winning recipe based on three criteria:

  • Ingredients
  • Creativity
  • Ease of preparation and consistency with the Derby party theme.
