FRANKFORT, Ky. — Governor Andy Beshear has waived the fee for first-time takers of the GED test.

“No one should have to live paycheck-to-paycheck,” Beshear said. “And expanded opportunities for education is the way we make sure fewer of our citizens actually do.”

Altogether, its costs $120 to get a GED. The Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet set aside $600,000, which Beshear said will help about 5,000 people in the first year. Kentucky Skills U, an agency with the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, will help the administration administer the GED tests.
