LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A Fall favorite is right around the corning as thousands of pumpkins are piling up at Iroquois Park.
On Thursday another truckload of orange gourds was unloaded behind the amphitheater.
“This is shipment number two of I would say ten," Paul Cadieux tells Spectrum News One.
In the coming weeks, the pumpkins will be transformed by local artists for the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, an enchanting walk through a third-of-a-mile in the woods set to a story.
This year's story is, “Four Seasons," says Artistic Director Matthew Sciannameo.
It'll be another week before the carving begins so organizers will utilize a little plant science to preserve the pumpkins.
“We really baby these pumpkins. We want them to last as long as they can. So we get them cold, not too cold but cold enough and get them on a single layer. We don’t want them on top of each other," Cadieux explains.
The Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular runs from October 8 through November 3. This is the 7th year for the event which attracts thousands to Iroquois Park every year. The shows run daily from dusk, roughly 7:15 p.m. until 11 p.m. Times vary depending on the day. You can find all the details and buy your tickets now.
