LOUISVILE, Ky. - More than three dozen Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) students are joining approximately 16,000 other students across the country as 2020 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists. 

The National Merit Scholarship Corp.  announced the semifinalists in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program Wednesday and they will compete for more than $31 million in scholarships. JCPS is represented from students from Ballard High School, duPont Manual High School, and Eastern High School.  The students are:

The nationwide group of semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring PSA/National Merit Scholarship Qualifiying Test participants in each state.  Of the 16,000 semifinalists, 15,000 are expected to advance to the finals, which will be announced next year.
