HARRISON COUNTY, In. - Three-time Kentucky Derby-winning jockey was stopped in Harrison County, Indiana on Sunday, August 26 under suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
According to a probably cause affidavit, 52 year-old Borel was stopped by a Harrison County sheriffi's deputy around 6:30 p.m.. The report says Borel was slurring his words and that he had poor balance. A preliminary breath test showed Borel with a blood alcohol level of .193, more than twice the legal limit allowed in Indiana. He was booked into the Harrison County Jail.
Borel appeared in Harrison County Superior Court Monday afternoon. We will update what happened in court as soon as the information becomes available.
Borel won his first Kentucky Derby in 2007 on Street Sense. He followed that with wins in 2009 on Mine That Bird and again in 2010 on Super Saver.
