FRANKFORT, Ky- All aboard the country's only "boat-based" bourbon tour!
At least captains Nathan and Allison Depenbock haven't heard of another one. For about a year the husband and wife duo have been offering tours on the "Bourbon Boat." The one-hour excursion shoves off from River View Park and heads up the Kentucky River.
“There is a lot to see out here. Frankfort has such a rich history. Our state is really built around this town and it’s really neat to see how it’s growing especially in the modern bourbon era," Captain Nathan tells Spectrum News 1.
The tour is as much about bourbon as it is about Kentucky's history. "We go way back. We go all the way back to the original settlement of Kentucky in 1775 and all the way into bourbon history and talk about all the founders of our industry," Captain Nathan adds.
Hard to beleive that in an industry drumming up 8.6 billion dollars, in the commonwealth alone, this is the only boat-based tour but by all accounts, it is. Spectrum News 1's Jonathon Gregg expereinces the tour in the video above!
