FRANKFORT- Former House Speaker and Attorney General Greg Stumbo has filed to run for Attorney General.

Stumbo is the first Democrat to file to run for the seat.

He says he'll be focusing on fixing the drug epidemic plaguing the commonwealth if he wins a second term.

"The drug epidemic has affected all parts of the state, east, west north, south, not just our home area in Eastern Kentucky. Democrats, Republicans, Independents, it cuts across every line," said Stumbo. "I made it my mission to try and do something about it. I was fairly successful as Attorney General when drugs were pouring in over the Internet with the KBI and a piece of legislation that the legislature gave us."

Stumbo served as Attorney General from 2004-2008, before going back to the House of Representatives where he served as House Speaker ultimately losing his seat in 2016 in the Trump wave.
