State Rep. Robert Goforth, R-East Bernstadt, will be announcing his candidacy for governor on Tuesday.
While he has yet to officially confirm that's what the announcement will be, a website titled "Goforth Hogan" reveals his intent.
The about section on his website says he's running for governor because "he wants to give back to the state and the people that helped him be successful in life."
Goforth, a pharmacist, was elected into the General Assembly in 2018 in a special election, and recently run re-election for his seat in the 89th House District.
Goforth has recently prefiled a bill that would make it a felony to preform an abortion on a fetus with a heartbeat.
Goforth will be the first Republican to officially announce his candidacy for governor. Governor Matt Bevin announced he would be running for re-election in August while at the Republican Party Lincoln Dinner. But, he has yet to file for re-election and has been closed-lipped about who his running mate would be.
