Amrit Singh is an award-winning news anchor, television host and lawyer. He is a founding anchor of Spectrum News 1 SoCal, where he hosts Inside the Issues with Amrit Singh, the network’s flagship political interview show, airing live Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Amrit also anchors the network’s 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. nightly newscasts on Your Evening on Spectrum News 1, and anchors election nights, breaking news, and other special programming. He is also the host of theSpectrum News Challenge, a nationwide current events quiz show that airs weekly on all Spectrum News TV networks.

Before joining Spectrum News, Amrit practiced corporate securities litigation as an attorney in New York City, after serving as an editor of his law school’s International Law Journal. In 2006, he began working as the executive editor at the website Stereogum, where he gave many indie artists of the ’00s and ’10s their first press (and first wrote about Vampire Weekend after they mailed him a demo CD and a handwritten letter).

In 2012, Amrit directed and hosted a short documentary about identity, music and Indian food called Dosa Hunt (profiled by NPR, the BBC, and New York Magazine, which called it “sharply funny”). The following year, he moved to television as a founding host and anchor of Sean “Diddy” Combs’s REVOLT TV, where he spent five years hosting studio and field programming, including a political debate show called Voices Of The Future, live coverage from the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, a daily variety show in front of a live studio audience, countless award show and film premiere red carpets and intimate one-hour sit-downs with the likes of Rick Rubin. Amrit has received multiple Emmy Award nominations and won several LA Press Club and Golden Mike awards for his newscasts, interviews, specials and prime-time interview series like Music Diaries.

Amrit is endlessly devoted to his wife, his daughter Love, his chihuahua Biggie, and the power of interviews and television as a means to empathy and healing. He has meditated daily for over 20 years and has been a guitarist and songwriter since childhood. Amrit also loves good movies, good writing, and Premier League football (aka “soccer”). He starts each morning by telling himself that every day is the best day of his life, then spends the rest of the day proving it through presence, jokes and gratitude.
