LEXINGTON, Ky. – School districts around the Commonwealth are continuing to struggle with staffing. It led to a shortage of teachers and bus drivers. Now, Lexington area schools are asking for help filling these vacant positions.

Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) is hosting a job fair that aims to recruit more substitute teachers and paraeducators. The district says both roles are ‘critically important to schools and make it possible to provide a meaningful learning environment’. Currently there are 3 openings for substitutes and 11 openings for paraeducators.

The job fair will be in the John D. Price Administration Building at 450 Park Place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 28 in Lexington. Interested substitute applicants should have the following qualifications, including proof of 64 college credit hours and 2.5 GPA. Paraeducators should have 48 college credit hours or pass a paraeducator exam. 

Representatives from the district’s human resource department and school leaders will be present to provide information and application help. You’ll need to bring proof of identification, social security card, high school diploma or college transcript and any relevant certifications.
