Thomas is now a third-generation farmer operating BLT Farms in Elizabethtown, Kentucky where they raise soybeans, cattle, hay and corn.
Thomas was even recently recognized as a finalist for the recent Outstanding Young Farm Family award, placing runner-up.
“It was a big honor to get a nomination but an even bigger honor to be good enough for second place,” Thomas said. “It's not something we expected but it means we're doing something right.”
His accomplishments aren’t just seen around the state — Thomas has taken his farming knowledge to TikTok, where one of his videos has more than one million views.
“Share ideas that somebody might be able to take and use,” Thomas said. "For the most part, if we can take a situation that's serious and put a spin on it to make people laugh, that's really the ultimate goal. Laughter is the best medicine.”
Thomas’ videos have even gained the attention of companies like Ag Leader Technology, which helps farmers plant and harvest more efficiently to promote their products.
“That's the best promotion a company can get is when a farmer will stand behind their product and promote it when they know it'll help someone else and that's what I'm all about is if I can do something show something on the farm that'll help somebody else, I'm gonna do it.”
