Ahmad Qadah opened up his eXotic Cutzz barbershop in Lexington at the age of 20. Throughout the years, Qadah’s passion for hair has grown stronger.
“Everything that we do, we’re doing it right. That, to me, whenever people tell me that I'm doing something right, that motivates me [to] keep me going harder,” Qadah said.
One of Qadah’s biggest inspirations was his cousin, who supported him throughout his journey.
“[He's] a big inspiration and big motivation in my life who help me push through a lot of things in life and to never give up in life,” Qadah said.
Qadah’s cousin lost his life to gun violence, and in honor of his life, Qadah has opened his shop with one mission in mind: to use his platform to make a positive change in the community.
“I think he would be really proud. I am of the family and he would be really proud,” Qadah said.
Inside the shop, young adults and people waiting in the lounge are encouraged to play video games, creating an atmosphere in Qadah’s shop that is unlike others.
“When the community comes out every time I see a new face it just brings me love because it just shows that people are really trying to come out and support me, and my goal is to make everybody happy,” Qadah said.
Overcoming the trials in his life, Qadah said combining his passion for hair and encouraging young adults within the community is something he will never stop doing.
“Always have a look for a hustle to find something you like to do. Do it, and never stop chasing your dreams,” Qadah said.
