LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington Police have arrested a 19-year-old wanted for in connection with an assault Monday, June 1.
Dylan Dempster turned himself in to Lexington Police Thursday. He is charged with rioting, criminal mischief and wanton endangerment.
Police say Dempster knowingly participated in a riot and caused physical injury. He is accused of intentionally breaking the victims’ car windshield with a skateboard.
Thursday, police arrested 19-year-old Kaulbert Wilson and a 15-year-old boy for their alleged involvement in the attack.
Police say a disruptive group of protestors, including Wilson, attacked the car that was driving on Midland Avenue heading toward Main Street. The driver and her husband were pulled out of their car and beaten by three men, one was identified as Wilson. The woman driver suffered a swollen eye and her husband has a concussion. The couple's children were in the car at the time of the attack.
Lexington police released this video from earlier in the evening and it shows Wilson and one of the other suspects, allegedly Dempster, jumping on another person's car. The beginning of the video is shown in real-time and the second half has been slowed down to highlight the person police were looking for.
Lexington's protests have been relatively peaceful according to police.
Police say this isn't the only incident of violence involving Wilson Monday night. They say he and his group walked as far out as Walton Avenue and Bullock Place and were seen carrying bats. Wilson is also accused of jumping on top of a police car with an officer inside and urging other protesters to flip the car over.
