FRANKFORT, Ky. — Governor Andy Beshear provided a update on coronavirus in Kentucky. The patient total is now at 26.
Here are all the Kentucky counties where tests have been administered:
The governor signed a new executive order that will go into effect Wednesday, March 18 at 5:00 pm that all "public-facing businesses that encourage congregation, by the nature of their business cannot comply with CDC guidelines regarding social distancing are going to have to cease operation."
This mean these businesses will need to close Wednesday afternoon:
- Entertainment & recreational facilities
- Community & recreation centers
- Gyms & exercise facilities
- Hair & nail salons
- Spas
- Concert venues
- Theaters
- Sporting event facilities
These businesses are exempt:
- Providing food
- Food processing
- Agriculture
- Industrial manufacturing
- Feed mills
- Construction
- Trash collection
- Retail
- Grocery
- Home repair & hardware stores
- Auto repair
- Pharmacies
- Banks
- Gas Stations
- Pet Stores
- Public Transportation
- Hotels & commercial lodging
The governor received a letter from the General Assembly requesting a special session. Beshear said he is "done with politics." He says there are two options, one pass a budget as quickly as possible and go home. Don't consider any other legislation. The second option adjourn and Beshear will call them back for a special session when it's safe and they can pass a budget or any legislation related to the coronavirus and nothing else.
