LOUISVILLE, Ky.- There's just under one month left to register to vote in Kentucky for the November election, if you aren't already registered. That deadline is October 7, to vote in the November 5th election.

Before ballots are cast, some people are hoping to influence the election's turnout by getting more people to vote. There's a movement sweeping the state, called VoteNowKY. It's organized by women.

They're registering people and offering rides to the polls. In Louisville, citizens can see these efforts in person, at places like the Nearly New Thrift Shop. Joyce Bridge, who runs the shop, will have registration forms for voters to fill out.

Bridge is worried about young people not voting.

"When we leave this world, my motto is that I hope I’ve changed somebody’s life for the better," Bridge says.

“I certainly think that voting is certainly a big part of it. There are other things we do besides that. We contribute our time and effort to things that matter to us. But if we don’t vote, then there are so many people whose lives will never be touched by anything we do," she says.

According to VoteNowKY, only about 20% of registered voters in Jefferson County actually got  to the polls on election day to cast a ballot in May. That left 500,000 people who did not vote.

If you need to register, here's how you can do that.
