LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Kentucky Science Center celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission with Space Week.
Events started Tuesday for the anniversary of the launch. The space exhibits continue through Saturday for the anniversary of the moon landing.
"People who were there love reminiscing. For people who weren't around at the time, they try to think about what is going to happen next," Veronica Greenwell of the Kentucky Science Center said.
There was a great interest in space in the 1960s during the great space race. Morehead State University astrophysics professor Dirk Grupe said the interest died off for a while, but is picking back up.
"There was not much going on anymore, but now, we are basically going into the next era of space exploration," Grupe said.
The museum will also hold a special screening of Capricorn One. That will be followed by a panel discussion on the psychology of conspiracy theories and using science to debunk many of the moon landing hoax claims.
