KENTUCKY — COVID-19 numbers continue to surge in the Commonwealth as new restrictions are in effect for Kentucky, to help limit the spread of the coronavirus.
Barely halfway into November, the city of Lexington is already seeing it’s busiest month for COVID-19 cases.
Kentucky’s second largest city, Lexington, has over 14,000+ confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 109 deaths, according to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department since the outbreak started in March.
Linda Gorton, is a registered nurse but has her hands full, serving as mayor of Lexington.
During this In Focus Kentucky segment, Gorton explains that she understands while many industries may face some short term setbacks because of the new statewide restrictions, she agrees with Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear that the measures are importnat in the long run, to help limit the spread of the coronavirus.
"The thing is that we are just this close to a vaccine. People can hold on a little longer and follow these restrictions. It will help us get through this last part of it. So, I of course I'm supportive he's, he's mandated these through executive order. So, as the mayor of the city of 325,000 people. I'm going to support them," says Gorton.
