BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Western Kentucky University and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System are re-affirming their transfer agreement. This allows students to transfer easily from any of the 16 KCTCS schools as well as potentially help them with scholarships.

WKU President Timothy Caboni said, “This is a pathway that’s available to them, no matter where they live in the state.”

While touring the transfer offices, Caboni and KCTCS President Ryan Quarles said students who transfer from KCTCS to WKU could have automatic transfer scholarships of up to $4,000.

Caboni said, “If you do well in your first two years at the community college, there’s a guaranteed transfer scholarship when you come to WKU.”

Services for students have also expanded, such as the transfer advising program.

Quarles said, “That’s a fancy way of saying, we’re removing obstacles, we’re removing barriers, and making the process for the student a little bit easier.”

WKU Housing and Residence also offers a transfer floor living option for students who are transferring from community colleges or four-year universities. According to former transfer student Samuel Favela, all of this streamlines the entire process.

Favela said, “There is a lot of sources available, there’s help available.”

According to a news release from WKU, approximately 14,000 KCTCS students transfer to a four-year university every year.
