Amber Smith is excited to join Spectrum News 1 as an anchor and reporter. She heads to the Bluegrass State from Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she worked as an anchor and reporter. While there, she covered everything from floods to the Alton Sterling investigation. She got her start in TV in her home state while attending the University of Missouri. While working at KOMU, Amber covered presidential election rallies and protests at the University of Missouri. During her time at KOMU, she also won an Edward R. Murrow award for Excellence in Social Media for team coverage of a gubernatorial debate.

After graduation, Amber moved west to St. Joseph, Missouri to become the weekday evening co-anchor. While there, she covered tornadoes, a presidential tax reform rally and a massive fire at a historic building. During college, Amber combined her love of storytelling and travel during a three-month internship at Reuters in Brussels, Belgium. While there, she interviewed European presidents and prime ministers on top international political topics.

As a St. Louis native, Amber is happy to be just a quick drive away from friends and family. In her free time, you can catch her rooting for the STL Cardinals, exploring new restaurants and checking out some country music concerts.
