LOS ANGELES — The Riviera Country Club announced Thursday it is donating $1 million to help with fire-recovery efforts in Pacific Palisades.
The club, which is in Pacific Palisades but was largely unscathed by the Palisades Fire, is annually the home of Tiger Woods' Genesis Invitational golf tournament. The tournament, being held this weekend, was moved to Torrey Pines in San Diego County due to the fire.
The club's donation will benefit the California Community Foundation in support of the Pacific Palisades Community Council, and the CD11 Foundation to support restoration of public spaces.
"The Pacific Palisades neighborhood and District 11 is very important to our club and our membership," Riviera Country Club CEO Megan Watanabe said in a statement. "Our focus now is to support rebuilding the Palisades community and help Councilwoman Traci Park in this very important time of need. Our members and partners have reached out to us asking how they can help in the recovery efforts, and we have informed them of our donation efforts (Riviera Community Donation) and welcomed them to support these two foundations by contributing to the fund we have set up with the California Community Foundation."
Club officials urged people who wish to donate to visit the California Community Foundation website.
