JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. (CNS) — A wildfire that has charred 110 acres in Jurupa Valley was 85% contained, and a mandatory evacuation order for the area has been lifted, authorities said Monday.

“Firefighters made good progress overnight, working to build containment lines,” the Riverside County Fire Department reported Saturday.

The Union fire was first reported at 3:49 p.m. Saturday near Indian Camp Road and Candle Light Drive in the river bottom, according to the fire department.

The second spot was reported at 5:22 p.m. at Clay Street and General Road, according to Cal Fire Riverside.

A mandatory evacuation order issued at about 6 p.m. for residents south of Limonite Avenue, north of Riverview Drive, east of Avenue Juan Diaz and west of Maverick Lane has been lifted, fire officials said. It was lifted Sunday and residents were encouraged to use caution when returning to affected areas.

A reception and care center was opened at Patriot High School located at 4355 Camino Real.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
