People in the Carson and Compton area woke up to a rare sight Thursday morning.Two EF-0 tornadoes spun through the area this morning as thunderstorms went through Southern California.
The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed the twisters went through the Carson and Compton area based on photographic and video evidence.

The tornado in Carson had wind gusts up to 75 mph, while the one in Compton had wind gusts up to 65 mph. NWS Los Angeles Meteorologist Eric Boldt told us the twisters went a short distance and caused minor damage to a couple of buildings in the area.
Both twisters occurred within three miles and within 10 to 15 minutes of each other.
In the video, you can see debris spinning up in the air. A tree and a car were also damaged.
Four tornadoes have happened Southern California this year including the two in Carson and Compton. Two twisters also hit SoCal in March.
An EF-1 tornado hit Montebello and an EF-0 tornado hit Carpinteria.
Tornadoes are rare in California. According to the National Weather Service, California averages about 11 tornadoes per year. They typically occur in spring and fall and tornado strength is ranged between EF-0-EF-3.
