LOS ANGELES — LeBron James is expected to set another NBA record Thursday evening when the Lakers face the Kings in Sacramento.
If James plays 10 minutes, he will break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's regular-season career minutes record of 57,446. James was initially listed as questionable due to what the Lakers called "left foot injury management," but announced at 6:08 p.m. he would be available for the 7 p.m. game at Golden 1 Center.
James had also been listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies at Crypto.com Arena due to left foot injury management. About 45 minutes before the 6:30 p.m. game, he was upgraded to available and played 34 minutes, scoring 18 points and passing for a game-high-equaling eight assists in the 116-110 victory after missing the previous two games because of a left foot injury.
James broke Abdul-Jabbar's combined regular season and playoff career record of 66,297 minutes on Nov. 27, 2023, when he played 29 minutes in a 138- 94 loss at Philadelphia that gave him a combined 66,318 minutes. He has since increased that total to 69,295.
