LOS ANGELES — Sean Crowe was thrilled to sit down and watch the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday night’s season premiere episode of Hard Knocks on HBO.
What You Need To Know
- L.A. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn had contracted COVID-19 earlier this year
- This season of HBO's Emmy-winning series Hard Knocks will follow the Chargers and L.A. Rams
- Rams superfan Sean Crowe was disappointed the premiere episode didn't feature much football
- The players will not be able to have contact practices until next week
Crowe even created a character for himself, "Goffman," to channel his fandom for the Rams' quarterback Jared Goff.
“It’s been so long since we had football,” Crowe said. “This is what sets the stage for the upcoming season.”
Before the show focused on his team, however, it began with big news. Viewers learned that L.A. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn had contracted COVID-19 earlier this year.
That news broke in the opening minutes and set the stage for the rest of the premiere, which focused on how the organization will protect its players from the virus.
“It was a bit of a snooze fest. There just wasn’t any football,” Crowe said.
Unlike a normal training camp, the players will not be able to have contact practices until next week. Eventually, the episode featured some slight football work from the Chargers and the Rams.
Both teams are taking it in stride as their every move is being captured by cameras for "Hard Knocks."
“Some people enjoy the cameras in their face all the time,” said Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor. “Some people think it’s annoying. I personally don’t let it phase me. But I could see both sides.”
At home, Crowe will continue to watch this visual appetizer to what he hopes is a football feast come September. "Goffman is ready to go," he said.
