LOS ANGELES — Police Wednesday are searching for a suspect who allegedly stabbed a passenger on a Metro B Line Universal City/Studio City Station train in Studio City and left the scene.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to the station at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday near Lankershim Boulevard where they learned the suspect stabbed the passenger after an altercation on the train, a local news station reported.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the station and took the victim to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The suspect was last seen walking toward Ventura and Lankershim boulevards.

The station was closed while police investigated the stabbing and reopened at 11:01 p.m., according to Metro.

"Metro extends its wishes for a quick recovery to the victim and thanks [to] the Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments for their prompt response," Metro Communications Director Dave Sotero told City New Service.

The LAPD's Transit Division was investigating the stabbing.
