LOS ANGELES — At least nine individuals were taken to hospitals Thursday following a multi-vehicle crash in the Baldwin Hills-Leimert Park area that left one vehicle on its side and also involved a Metro bus.

The crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. Thursday in the 3500 block of West 39th Street, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.

It was unclear exactly how many vehicles were involved, but video from the scene showed a silver SUV on its side in the roadway, another vehicle with extensive damage and a Metro bus pulled over to the side of the road.

Firefighters evaluated at least 14 people, including occupants from the bus and other vehicles, official said. According to the LAFD, three people were taken to hospitals in moderate condition, while six others were taken to hospitals in fair condition.

"The rest declined ambulance transport to an area hospital after being assessed on scene," Prange said.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation.
