LOS ANGELES (CNS) — Three Los Angeles Police Department officers were in stable condition Monday evening after being injured in an early morning crash on the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway near Crytpo.com Arena involving a hit-and- run motorist.
The crash was reported at 2:12 a.m. at Olympic Boulevard, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
All three officers were taken in critical-to-serious condition by paramedics to County-USC Medical Center, according to the California Highway Patrol. The LAPD reported about 9 p.m. that the officers were in stable condition.
Local media reported from the scene that three officers in another patrol car witnessed the crash and arrested the suspected hit-and-run driver and that all were returning to the Harbor Station after performing post-Super Bowl duties downtown.
The CHP issued a SigAlert Monday morning at 2:43 a.m. shutting down the southbound Harbor Freeway at the Santa Monica (10) Freeway with the transitions to the eastbound and westbound Santa Monica Freeway remaining open. The SigAlert was later lifted.
