LOS ANGELES — A man who was thought to be armed and refused to come out of a tent on a Hollywood sidewalk was taken into custody Wednesday following a standoff with police.
Officers were sent to Selma Avenue and McCadden Place at about 7 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
As a precaution, nearby Hollywood High School was placed on lockdown, as was Larchmont Charter on the campus of Selma Elementary School, according to Los Angeles school police.
The lockdowns were lifted at about 9:30 a.m., but school police officers monitored the situation, as LAPD officers continued their efforts to take the man into custody.
The man was taken into custody about 10 a.m., police said. The man may have been in possession of a replica handgun, according to a broadcast report. No injuries were reported.
