With just weeks away from the Nov. 5 election, about 300 students at Lynwood High School spent time in the school’s gymnasium learning about presidential candidates, ballot measures and more.
It was an opportunity that helped three soon-to-be first-time voters think about what issues they care about and what type of candidate they want to see as America’s next president.
Early polling from Tufts University’s Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement found that there could be over eight million new youth voters eligible to vote in the 2024 presidential election since the 2022 midterm election.
