COMPTON, Calif. – A 3.7 magnitude earthquake hit Compton just after midnight on Friday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The earthquake had a depth of 24.6 kilometers. So far more than 6,000 citizens reported feeling the earthquake.

The month of July was plagued by earthquakes spanning from Ridgecrest all the way to Los Angeles. Over the course of several days Ridgecrest was rocked by more than 11 earthquakes up to a 7.1 magnitude.

Earthquakes below a 5 magnitude will not leave behind any significant damage. No one was injured and no structures were damaged in Friday's earthquake.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency advises every resident to create an earthquake supply kit to prepare for the worst. When an earthquake hits it is hard to know how bad the damage will be. Kits should have enough supplies for a family to survive up to three days if disaster strikes.
