HUNTINGTON HARBOR, Calif. – Portions of Huntington Harbour are currently shut down due to a massive 60,000-gallon sewage spill on Thursday.
The harbor’s water area was closed by the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Environmental Health division. The cause of the spill has been determined to be from a sewer main blockage in Stanton.
The following locations are closed:
- Anaheim Bay
- Sunset Aquatic Marina
- Portofino Cove
- Anderson Street Marina
- Mother’s Beach
- Admiralty Drive
The closure notice states, “The affected bay water area will remain closed to ocean water-contact sports until the results of follow-up water quality monitoring meet acceptable standards.”
While the areas are closed swimming and diving will be prohibited. It is unclear how long the areas will be closed.
With Labor Day weekend kicking off on Friday there are thousands of tourists in the area.
